I should try to keep track and write out the things that Missler has added to my study of Revelation, especially from the Old Testament and his knowledge of Hebrew. I will try to spell these out as I get clarity and time. Many points that I thought I had uniquely, though, he knows. His school (The Hal Lindsay school) is wrong about the Horsemen, though! While he is non-denominational," his school is the Baptist, and he knows of the Sir Robert Anderson reading of the 490 days (The Coming Prince), as did Jack Van Impe, from related predecessors, coming from Scofield’s Bible, in a specifically American tradition stretching from Darby and even the revivals of Whitefield. Isaac Newton in his book on Daniel is one British source of this line, and the Pastor Mead, who is read by Newton. These also seem to me wrong about the 7 letters containing a prophecy of the future of the Church, as though each stage of history were to be in succession like the church addressed in each letter. Rather, That is the account of the horsemen and seals! No one knows what to do with the indeterminate 7th week after the 483 weeks up to the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem on the donkey. My suggestion is that these are the 7 seals. That the temple was destroyed as prophesied in 70 AD, and that the Christians were warned and fled, is a seventh week, of decades, while the Christian persecution by Rome ends, and the making of martyrs by the church begins, about 365 AD, that is a year of years.
Missler is also flat wrong in his teaching about Islam and the God of Abraham, and this teaching has potentially tragic consequences. He was wrong that the danger to US liberty was from the left rather than the right. He is wrong about the application of Revelation to particulars, as is everyone. Missler often tells his listeners to search the scriptures themselves rather than believe things because he says them.
He is wrong to say that birds are Satanic or evil in scripture and in Daniel (4:12; Mat. 6:26, etc.).
Each of these could and should become a chapter or section heading, as I try to catch up with this guy!
His reading of Ruth.
His reading of the generations of the messiah.
His ability to demonstrate the truth of the Messiah from Hebrew scripture- unparalleled.
His ability to answer what we thought were difficulties in the scripture:
One example is dash their children against the rocks in the Psalm- it is answering a Edomite threat to do the same, even quoting it. He tries to answer even the apparent post diction of Daniel 11- we suspect that was put into the Septuagint- or something. But like other things, such as the Exodus, Daniel 11 is also prophetic by analogy.
Another is the apparently conflicting genealogies of Jesus- a few people have figured out that one is by law (Matthew) and another by the maternal line. But Missler is able to follow this out and give the account.
The Ethiopian Eunuch. In the Eighth chapter of the Acts, Phillip meets a eunuch from Ethiopia, and Missler sees this in 3 dimensions, discerning that the eunuch has come to see if it is time to return the Ark.
The change of calendars in about 701 BC. from lunar to solar.
Do we believe no one knows this or noticed that the calendars of MANY nations changed from lunar to Solar about this time? Enoch is solar, though. But the 360/365 hides and complicates calculations of the prophecy.
The distinction between the Kingdom of God, characterized by 7’s, and the Kingdom of heaven or Davidic restoration, characterized by 12’s.
The 12 Kingdom mysteries. The 12 Kingdom parables.
The Dual Chronology of the Prophets and the Babylonian Exile.
We have trouble putting together Persian and Israeli history, Herodotus and the Bible, for example- and no one has done this as well as Missler.
The distinction between The servitude and desolation of Jerusalem, and the captivity. Missler draws out these three different beginning dates for the 70 weeks. In my book, I spin about on this question 6 times, and would have edited out any repetition, except I was not able to improve on what I had. One has noted that the interval between 1948 and 1967 is the same as that between...the captivity and desolation of Jerusalem? These then provide different start dates for the 2,555 years, or 7 weeks of years. One interesting thing about theses prophesies is that they are almost useless for foresight, but very useful to marvel in hindsight, and know that something is near. This is the bi-millennium of the life of Jesus, the ministry- we are in it now.
Daniel and the Magi:
Missler discerns that the 3 wise men knew about the Messiah from a prophecy when Daniel was in Babylon. This solve the problem that these seem to have found the Messiah by means of astrology.
On the Zodiac: That Adam taught his children from the heavens; Psalm 19, that the names of the Zodiac are the same in all languages. That there is a teaching corrupted in Babylon.
The First 10 names in the Genesis genealogy spell out:
"Man: Adam
is appointed
mortal sorrow
But the blessed God
Shall come down
teaching.
His death
Shall bring the despairing
comfort, rest (Noah).
In his series of classes on Matthew, Missler has just taught me: Missler- on Matthew- on Caesar's image on the coin- I just got it, from Chuck! The Pharisees try to set him at odds with either the Romans, for denouncing tax, or the Jews for paying it. God's image is on man as the emperor is on the coin. Hence the Thomas addition: and to me, mine." Give men back to God.
